We are looking to recruit a full-time Musculoskeletal Therapist to our team. The successful applicants will be enthusiastic and self-motivated with an aspiration to innovate and improve all aspects of care delivery within the Musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy service based across two sites at St Heliers Hospitals and Jubilee Health Centre. You will be keen to participate fully in an innovative model of care and will be passionate about delivering high-quality care to your patients. You will have excellent communication skills and be happy to work in a multidisciplinary team. Committing to further education is required, and personal development will be encouraged. Clinical supervision is well supported within this service. Evidence of self-motivation will be sought at the interview. Recent experience of working in a Community-based MSK/OPP service would be an advantage but not essential.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide autonomous clinical therapy practice in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with MSK conditions.
  • To assist with operational management within MSK services.
  • To assist with developing practice, innovation and promoting an evidence-informed culture within MSK services.
  • To assist with communication and collaboration with both patients and relevant stakeholders regarding the provision and development of MSK services.
  • To actively partake in a specialist MSK therapy training programme, rotating into different specialist fields on differing sites with the Sutton Community bases.
  • To assist with the provision of education and training predominantly for Physiotherapy students and Physiotherapy Technical Assistants (PTAs).
  • To partake in research, audit and evaluation of relevant clinical practice.

Person specification:

  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy/Osteopathy.
  • HCPC registration or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal portfolio demonstrating postgraduate education/courses in MSK.
  • Evidence of MSK previous employment.
  • NHS experience.
  • Experience in management of MSK conditions.
  • MSK interest.
  • 6 months experience working in NHS in the UK.
  • Experience of performance management of students.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skills in the management and assessment of MSK conditions.
  • Skills in the provision of manual and exercises therapy.
  • Proactive learning/CPD - self-learning.
