This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and specialist SALT with relevant qualifications and expertise in acquired disorders of communication and swallowing to lead a team of adult speech and language therapists at St Helier Hospital. The role is based at St Helier Hospital, a leading teaching hospital in South West London.
Responsibilities
- Assess and advise on individual communication and swallowing problems.
- Provide specialist advice to SLTs, other professionals and carers on communication and swallowing disorders in the hospital setting.
- Deliver specialist training and mentoring to SLTs, students and junior staff.
- Act as team lead for the adult speech and language therapy department.
- Provide second opinions on complex cases.
- Engage regularly in research and development activities within the specialist area.
- Serve as a departmental resource for assessment tools, materials and collaborative practice with the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to service development and policy implementation using RCSLT/HPC and ESTH guidelines.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in videofluoroscopy and ideally in FEES.
- Relevant professional qualifications in speech and language therapy with a focus on acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
- Strong clinical, teaching and leadership skills suitable for a senior specialist role.
