An experienced tax professional ready to take on a broader portfolio, review the work of others, and start shaping how a tax team runs. We're recruiting a Tax Supervisor for a friendly, well-established accountancy practice in Watford, working within a strong and supportive tax team. You'll take responsibility for a varied portfolio of personal and corporate clients, mainly family companies and their owners, along with small businesses and private individuals, handling compliance, reviewing returns prepared by colleagues, and getting involved in more complex planning and advisory work. There's genuine scope to progress, including towards an assistant manager role for the right person, and study support is available where it's needed.

What you'll be doing:
- Managing a portfolio of personal and company clients, preparing and submitting tax returns and keeping on top of statutory deadlines
- Reviewing tax returns prepared by other members of the tax team
- Providing tax compliance services and advice across a diverse client base
- Getting involved in more complex tax planning and advisory work, and spotting planning opportunities for clients
- Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues, and responding quickly to client queries
- Researching tax matters as they arise and helping draft technical advice
- Contributing ideas to develop the tax department's own processes
What you'll bring:
- Several years' experience in a tax department within an accountancy practice
- Solid experience across Income Tax, Corporation Tax and Capital Gains Tax; exposure to Inheritance Tax or VAT is a bonus
- ATT or CIOT qualified, or working towards it, is preferred but not essential
- Strong, up-to-date technical knowledge and a genuine interest in keeping current with legislation
- Confident communicator, comfortable with clients from a range of backgrounds, in person and over Teams
- Well-organised with a keen eye for detail
- Comfortable using tax software and Microsoft Office
- A proactive, enthusiastic approach and happy taking on extra responsibility
