Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience)

The Opportunity

This is a key management position responsible for ensuring the quality,performance, reliability, and compliance of ePropelled's electric propulsionproducts.

The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineersand technicians, oversee verification and validation activities, managelaboratory operations, and drive continuous improvement across testing andquality assurance processes. Working closely with Engineering, Systems,Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Certification teams, you will play a criticalrole in delivering robust, certification-ready products to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, develop, and manage a team of Test Engineers andTechnicians.
  • Plan resource allocation and workload balancing across multiple projectsand programmes.
  • Support employee development, performance management, and technicaltraining initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, engineering excellence, andcontinuous improvement.
  • Drive SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) and 6S activitieswithin laboratory environments.

Verification & Validation

  • Develop and maintain verification, durability and reliability strategiesfor electric motors, inverters, power electronics, battery-integrated systems,and complete propulsion solutions.
  • Create and manage verification plans, test specifications, procedures,compliance matrices, and requirements traceability documentation.
  • Coordinate verification activities with Systems Engineering, ProductDevelopment, Manufacturing, and Certification teams.
  • Support certification programmes through the generation of verificationevidence and compliance artefacts.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, design reviews, and programmemilestone reviews.

Test Laboratory Management

  • Oversee the safe and compliant operation of all internal testinglaboratories and facilities.
  • Manage laboratory equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems,and automated test rigs.
  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, certification, and service schedulesare maintained.
  • Lead pre-test assessments, safety reviews, and risk assessments for alltesting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and industrybest practices.
  • Coordinate external testing activities with specialist laboratories andcertification organisations.

Product Testing & Qualification

Manage and oversee testing activities including:

  • Motor performance and efficiency testing
  • Dynamometer testing and performance mapping
  • Thermal characterisation and validation
  • Environmental qualification testing
  • Vibration and durability testing
  • EMC/EMI compliance testing
  • Power quality assessments
  • Endurance and lifecycle testing
  • High-voltage system validation
  • Integrated propulsion system verification

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Develop and implement quality assurance processes supporting productdevelopment and release.
  • Ensure products meet functional, reliability, durability, safety, andregulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and internal qualitymanagement systems.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, supplier audits, andcertification assessments.
  • Ensure all testing activities are properly documented and traceable.

Data Analysis & Root Cause Investigation

  • Ensure accurate and reliable data capture, storage, analysis, andreporting.
  • Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis activities.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from testingactivities.
  • FMEA/FMECA
  • Fault Tree Analysis
  • Fishbone Analysis
  • 5 Whys
  • Statistical analysis techniques
  • Present technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations tosenior leadership.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Systems Engineering,Manufacturing, Procurement, and Programme Management teams.
  • Liaise with suppliers, external test facilities, certificationauthorities, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support supplier quality investigations and qualification activitieswhere required.
  • Act as a key technical interface during customer and regulatory audits.
  • Drive improvements in:
  • Test methodologies
  • Laboratory infrastructure
  • Automation systems
  • Reporting standards
  • Safety procedures
  • Documentation practices
  • Establish and maintain best practices across all verification andvalidation activities.

EssentialQualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, AerospaceEngineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a quality assurance, verification,validation, or test engineering role.
  • Demonstrable experience testing electric motors, brushless DC motors(BLDC), permanent magnet motors, inverters, ESCs, or high-voltage powerelectronic systems.
  • Previous experience managing technical teams within a laboratory orengineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Motor performance testing
  • Torque and efficiency mapping
  • Thermal analysis
  • Reliability and endurance testing
  • Experience with:
  • Instrumentation and sensors
  • Automated test rigs
  • Control systems
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems up to 1500VDC.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and safe systems of work withinpotentially hazardous environments.
  • Proven experience conducting root cause investigations and implementingcorrective actions.
  • Excellent technical reporting and presentation skills.
  • Aerospace, eVTOL, UAV, defence, marine, automotive, motorsport, orelectric propulsion industry experience.
  • Knowledge of aerospace certification and qualification standardsincluding:
