Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Staff Engineer to join our growing Engineering department at our Norwich Head Office.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the technical strategy and execution for a high-priority business initiative: our new Embedded Accountancy project.
Responsibilities
- Drive Technical Delivery: Act as the technical lead overseeing the successful design, integration, and architecture of the Embedded Accountancy product ecosystem.
- System
Integration: Collaborate closely with external financial service APIs (specifically Sage) to build robust, compliant, and highly secure ledger and bookkeeping syncing tools.
- Engineering
Leadership: Provide exceptional mentorship, guidance, and strategic direction to engineering squads, fostering high standards for code quality, architectural integrity, and knowledge sharing.
- Cross‑Functional
Communication: Function as a primary technical translator between executive stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to align technical workflows with commercial business cases.
- Foster Best Practices: Champion a culture of excellence by establishing documentation standards, performance profiling frameworks, and robust system observability.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating at a Senior, Lead, or Staff Engineer level within a modern, cloud‑native technology ecosystem.
- Strong foundations in building microservices, distributed system integration patterns, and data schema architecture.
- Exceptional technical leadership capabilities with a track record of driving cross‑functional alignment and mentoring junior‑to‑mid‑level engineers.
