The Opportunity

We are hiring a Platform Engineer (IC4 Mid Level) to join our core platform team in Norwich. This team is modernising our infrastructure and developer platform to enable faster, safer delivery across the business. Expect high-impact work on scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, and operate core platform services on AWS, leveraging Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions to enable secure, scalable delivery.
  • Lead and contribute to infrastructure-as-code, platform APIs, observability, and runtime tooling that improve reliability and time-to-market.
  • Drive best practices in CI/CD, security, cost optimisation, and performance; reduce toil through automation and self-service.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define standards, guide architecture, and support migrations to modern platform patterns.
  • Own services end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and post-incident review.
  • Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.

  • Consistently achieves an average score of 3+ for Communication every 6 months.

What we’re looking for

  • Senior-level platform/SRE experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS) for high-availability systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform (or equivalent IaC), plus CI/CD at scale.
  • Proficiency in one or more of Go for building platform tooling/services.
  • Solid grasp of networking, security, observability, and cost control in cloud-native environments.
  • Track record of leading initiatives, influencing architecture, and mentoring others.
  • Pragmatic mindset focused on clean, testable code, automation, and measurable impact.

Nice to have

  • Helm, service mesh.
  • Database operations exposure (PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar).
  • GitLab/GitHub ecosystem depth, policy-as-code, or platform engineering enablement work.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or POS domains.

Location and working pattern

Norwich office; Monday to Friday, core hours between 8am–6pm. Full-time, permanent.

Compensation and benefits

Salary: £32,000–£40,000 (GBP), plus standard benefits. Standard benefits package, growth and learning opportunities, and the chance to shape a modern engineering platform used at global scale.
