About the job:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will be supporting the Finance team by ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of payment gateways and bank accounts. You will help maintain the integrity of financial records, resolve outstanding transactions and discrepancies, and ensure receipts are accurately recorded, reconciled within the accounting system, and supported by the correct documentation. You will work closely with internal teams to investigate unreconciled items, obtain supporting information, and ensure all transactions are processed and reconciled in a timely manner.

What will you do?

  • Handle daily reconciliation of payment gateway transactions against bank receipts and accounting records.
  • Process and reconcile payment gateway transactions within Sage and other financial systems.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding or unreconciled transactions by liaising with internal departments and stakeholders.
  • Identify, investigate, and escalate discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all receipts and transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain accurate reconciliation schedules and audit trails.
  • Support month-end close activities relating to cash, bank, and payment gateway balances.
  • Assist with any other areas the finance team require.

What do you need to apply?

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently within deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage high transaction volumes.
  • Experience working with Xero, NetSuite or similar.

What would make your application stand out:

  • Experience working in a fast-growing tech or SaaS business.
  • AAT student, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights to leadership.
  • Familiarity with credit card chargeback rules, including Visa, Mastercard and PayPal, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable, payment processing, and dispute resolution.
