A great opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of Videoconferencing Moderators to join our Court Reporting Legal Services team as Independent Contractors. You will be moderating Epiq client hearings such as courtroom proceedings, arbitrations, tribunals, depositions, public inquiries, meetings, conferences and/or any other formal hearing as agreed between you and Epiq. You will be technically adept, with experience in using virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, have excellent attention to detail and good time management. You will need to be able to take initiative and act swiftly to resolve any technical issues that may arise during the course of the hearing, remain calm under pressure and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Successful candidates will be based in London or the greater London area. Hearings will be held on-site in the London area but there may also be remote hearings held at other locations within the UK or abroad as well as virtual hearings that can be covered from home. Coverage of all assignments will be by prior agreement and travel and accommodation costs will be paid for remote assignments. When you attend hearings in person you will be required to present a professional appearance and wear formal business attire.
Shortlisted candidates will undertake the Epiq on-line English & IQ assessment and a typing test. On successful completion of these assessments, you will receive full training in the Videoconferencing Moderator role and will be issued with an Epiq laptop to be able to provide the service.
Please note this is a self-employed role.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Schedule, host and moderate videoconferencing calls on virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom/Microsoft Teams
- Open the videoconferencing call and liaise with key participants to facilitate commencement of the hearing
- Ensure that the correct participants are invited and admitted to the call
- Enable/disable meeting security settings for participants as appropriate
- Set up audio/video/chat options for participants as appropriate
- Admit participants to the call at the correct time
- Assign participants to the correct legal teams/breakout rooms as appropriate
- Record the call as requested by the Epiq client
- Assist participants/arbitrators/the judge with any requests they may have during the call
- Respond to participant requests in a timely manner
Personal Profile
- Educated to minimum A level or equivalent standard
- Good English language skills – grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Relevant work experience, preferably in a legal, parliamentary or business setting
- Interest in the law and current affairs
