Job Summary
This position is a hybrid Transcriber/Monitor position. When transcribing, the position is responsible for the accurate and timely production of transcript in various styles and formats, utilising a variety of audio types and production and research tools. Transcripts must be produced in accordance with contractual and client-driven deadlines with a focus on quality and accuracy. Productivity levels, as directed by the business, must be maintained at all times. Transcribers must maintain clear communication with colleagues via various channels and must work collaboratively with other Court Reporting teams to facilitate the successful delivery of service to our clients. Transcribers are responsible for undertaking the requisite research to ensure the accuracy of their transcript, utilising any available supporting information and maintaining glossaries for all work produced. All Transcribers are subject to quality and productivity assessments and are responsible for actioning any feedback provided.
When Monitoring, the position is responsible for recording proceedings and producing an annotation or log of those proceedings to aid in the process of accurate transcription. Proceedings may take place on site in courtrooms or at client premises, or may be recorded from an Epiq office. Monitors must be able to record proceedings using a variety of tools and softwares and must maintain clear communication with both clients and colleagues via various channels. They also must work collaboratively with other Court Reporting teams to facilitate the successful delivery of service for our clients.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Produce high quality transcript in accordance with delivery deadlines.
- Proofread all transcripts prior to submission.
- Utilise all available supporting information to ensure accurate monitoring and transcription.
- Ensure glossaries are kept up to date.
- Undertake cross-training on a variety of jurisdictions as directed by the business.
- Maintain familiarity with all production tools (TOPS/macros etc).
- Maintain productivity levels as directed by the business.
- Produce high-quality audio recordings of hearings.
- Produce high-quality and accurate annotations of hearings.
- Obtain accurate spellings of names, places, terminology etc to enable an accurate transcript to be produced.
- Maintain familiarity and utilise various recording technologies such as Liberty and FTR.
- Maintain accurate records of hearing sitting times and any applicable travel times.
- Upload and convert audio as and when required.
- Travel and work outside of office locations and in regional locations to record proceedings as and when required.
- Maintain close communication with other team members, including, but not limited to, Monitors, Transcribers, Coordinators, Transcript Managers and the monitoring supervisor.
- Action any feedback provided by the QA Lead Analyst or Transcript and Monitoring Managers/in relation to quality or productivity.
- Participate in ad hoc projects.
- Partake in periodic performance reviews with Transcript Manager.
- Partake in annual security and compliance training.
- Ability to work outside standard business hours if required.
- Ensure communications are clear, concise, and in line with business requirements.
- Foster and promote a safe and healthy work environment, maintaining safe work practices at all times, and work within and comply with Company safety policies and procedures.
