Epiq is a global leader in legal services, delivering innovative solutions to clients worldwide. We are currently seeking Home-Based Transcribers located in the UK to join our team on a self-employed basis.
As a Home-Based Transcriber, you will be responsible for producing accurate, high-quality verbatim transcripts from audio and video recordings in accordance with Epiq Style Guidelines and client deadlines.
If you are a fast, accurate typist with excellent English language skills, strong attention to detail, and experience in areas such as police work, criminal investigations, PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act) Interviews Under Caution, legal multi-speaker transcription, or fully verbatim transcription from video recordings who enjoys variety and flexibility, then this role is perfect for you.
All shortlisted candidates will complete Epiq’s online English and typing assessments. Successful candidates will be invited to an interview, and upon onboarding, you will receive comprehensive training prior to offering transcription services.
Please note this is a home-based, self-employed role.
Key Responsibilities- Produce high quality, accurate transcripts from multi-speaker audio or video recordings in accordance with client style guidelines and delivery deadlines.
- Proofread and check all work for spelling, grammar, style and formatting before submission.
- Undertake cross-training on various transcription contracts as required.
- Use audio playback platforms such as FTR.
- Maintain clear communication with the Transcription Operations Manager/Team Leader and other transcribers.
- Implement feedback promptly to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Complete annual Information Security and Compliance training.
- Adhere to Epiq’s Code of Conduct, policies and remote work safety practices.
- Educated to minimum A level or equivalent standard.
- Excellent English language & audio transcription skills.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Copy typing speed minimum 60 wpm.
- Audio typing speed minimum 30 wpm.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility and responsiveness.
- Ability to manage workload and meet assignment deadlines.
- Strong general knowledge and interest in the law.
- Confidentiality and discretion at all times - ability to handle challenging and potentially distressing material.
- Experience with multiple-speaker audio transcription and legal content would be desirable.
- Fast broadband internet connection.
- Good quality headphones and an Infinity foot pedal.
- Epiq will provide a secure laptop and transcription software for audio/video playback.
Due to the nature of this work, successful applicants must obtain SC-level national security clearance. Epiq will assist with the application process at no cost.
