Epiq is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Audio Transcriber to join the court reporting team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely transcripts from a variety of audio sources, including legal proceedings, interviews, and meetings. Transcribers must ensure high-quality output by utilizing specialized transcription tools, conducting necessary research, and maintaining clear communication with team members. This position demands strong listening skills, excellent grammar, and a minimum typing speed of 75 wpm. Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet client-driven deadlines, and contribute to the delivery of reliable transcription services across multiple jurisdictions.
- Transcribers are responsible for creating a verbatim written record of audio recordings in various styles and formats, utilizing a variety of audio types, production and research tools.
- Transcripts must be produced in accordance with contractual and client-driven deadlines with a focus on quality and accuracy. Productivity levels, as directed by the business, must be maintained at all times.
- Transcribers must maintain clear communication with colleagues via various channels and must work collaboratively with other Court Reporting teams to facilitate the successful delivery of service to our clients.
- Transcribers are responsible for undertaking the requisite research to ensure the accuracy of their transcript, utilizing any available supporting information. All Transcribers are subject to quality and productivity assessments and are responsible for actioning any feedback provided.
- Produce high-quality transcripts in accordance with delivery deadlines
- Proofread all transcripts prior to submission
- Utilize all available supporting information to ensure accurate transcription
- Maintain familiarity with various audio playback platforms such as FTR
- Maintain productivity levels as directed by the business
- Maintain close communication with other transcribers and management
- Maintain close communication with the admin team, providing constructive feedback on audio quality etc. when necessary
Additional Project/ Responsibilities
- Action any feedback provided by the QA Lead or Contract Manager in relation to quality or productivity.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects
- Partake in periodic performance reviews with Contract Manager
- Partake in annual security and compliance training
- Ensure communications are clear, concise, and in line with business requirements
- Foster and promote a safe and healthy work environment, maintaining safe work practices at all times, and to work within and comply with Company safety policies and procedures
Qualifications & Characteristics
- Typing speed minimum of 50 wpm (with the view to be typing at 75+ wpm after training)
- Experience of using Express Scribe, FTR player or any other typing software with a foot pedal
- Excellent English vocabulary and grammar skills
- Ability to utilize the internet and other resources for research purposes
- Exceptional hearing and comprehension
- Computer literate in Word (advanced) and Excel (basic)
- Collaborative team member
- Flexibility and responsiveness
- Six months to one year basic office administration
Must be a UK National as this role requires SC level clearance.
