Epiq Counsel is supporting one of the UK’s leading homebuilders, with the addition of an experienced Privacy Compliance Consultant to join their in-house compliance function on an interim basis. This role is ideal for a mid-level compliance professional with strong, practical data privacy experience who enjoys being hands-on and working at pace in a changing environment.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 6 years’ hands-on experience in data privacy / data protection, gained within an in-house or operational compliance environment.
- Strong practical experience managing SARs and supporting DPIAs at volume.
- Solid working knowledge of UK GDPR, ICO guidance, and real-world application of data protection principles.
- Confidence engaging with stakeholders at differing levels of data protection understanding.
- Willingness to support a hybrid role requiring two days onsite in West Midlands-based office.
Preferred Experience
- IAPP certification or equivalent practical experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in regulated environments is helpful, but industry background is flexible.
Key Responsibilities
- Immediate impact within a well-established in-house compliance team.
- Manage and support a high volume of Subject Access Requests (SARs), including coordination with internal stakeholders and third-party providers.
- Lead and support Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for ongoing projects, working closely with the business to guide unfamiliar stakeholders through DP requirements.
- Advise on data privacy queries, low-risk breaches, complaints, and “right to be forgotten” requests.
- Review and assess privacy notices and data usage requests to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and practical business needs.
- Apply a pragmatic approach to compliance, confidently advising where activities cannot proceed and explaining the “why” in clear, business-friendly terms.
- Support delivery of BAU compliance work while contributing to roadmap and control implementation as required.
