We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist (Lookdev) to join the MetaHuman art team. This is an opportunity to work alongside our talented team of artists, engineers, and researchers to push our character technology, particularly around materials, lighting, and rendering. As part of this team, you play an important role in supporting our existing product and future-facing character technology. You will be responsible for supporting the Technical Art team in ensuring MetaHuman content continually improves visual fidelity and remains scalable and optimized for target platforms.

The ideal candidate would be proactive, experienced in real-time rendering and photorealistic look development, and passionate about collaborating with researchers and engineers to develop our character technology.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with Art and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality, optimized content for target platforms
  • Collaborate with engineers to profile digital character technology on target platforms and help define art budgets
  • Support R&D initiatives centered around digital characters
  • Drive improvements in the visual fidelity of MetaHumans

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong reel/portfolio demonstrating photorealistic character lookdev and authoring content suitable for real-time rendering
  • Deep understanding of physically based rendering and photorealistic character look-development workflows
  • Self-motivated and proactive in looking for ways to improve the product and push for future technology
  • 5+ years of experience using Unreal Engine and working in a game dev environment
  • Experience with DCCs such as Substance, Houdini, Maya
  • Proficient with creating content optimized for real-time rendering
  • Confident with scripting languages such as Python
