What We Do

Unreal projects have been leading the pack of real-time entertainment with our constantly growing team of engineering experts. We’re always improving on the tools and technology that empower content developers worldwide.

What You’ll Do

Join us in shaping the future of Fortnite — one of the world’s most influential interactive platforms. We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader to drive the development of foundational systems that support the Fortnite experience at scale — including player onboarding, progression, identity, lobbies, and purchasing. These systems form the connective tissue of the Fortnite ecosystem, powering player interaction, progression, and seamless transitions between experiences. This role is central to our goal of delivering consistent, high-quality user experiences across internal and third-party content — while enabling scale, flexibility, and innovation for the entire platform.

  • Set the technical vision and architecture for Fortnite’s ecosystem systems, driving scalability, consistency, and platform evolution.
  • Lead development of features that span all Fortnite content, ensuring unified experiences and reliable scale across modes.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, new IPs) to ensure systems align with desired flows and player-facing requirements.
  • Collaborate with third-party developers to enable flexible, performant integration with Fortnite's shared systems.
  • Grow and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and engineering excellence.
  • Drive platform evolution while balancing stability, performance, and flexibility for diverse use cases.
  • Drive innovation and creative problem solving in areas that do not have an internal precedent.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience architecting and building user-facing systems in a live services or platform environment (e.g., menus, accounts, progression, commerce).
  • Strong understanding of scalable backend and client-service patterns, ideally in cross-platform or online service contexts.
  • Comfortable navigating complex user flows and dependencies across multiple teams and surfaces.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Passion for building intuitive, reliable systems that support a wide range of player and developer needs.
