The CNC Miller setter/operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC horizontal machining centres to produce precision components that meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This role requires strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Set up and operate CNC Fanuc horizontal machining centres and multi-axis machines (Matsuura experience would be an advantage).
- Load programs and set tool offsets.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and process documentation.
- Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
- Produce parts to tight tolerances using a variety of materials.
- Proficiency in precision measurement and inspection techniques.
- Ability to make program edits, offset adjustments, and tool changes as required.
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot machining or quality issues.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized (5S).
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and company procedures.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience setting and operating Fanuc controls.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Sound experience in setting and operating multi-axis machining centres.
- Ability to edit programmes and make adjustments; programming knowledge a plus.
