As the Material Buyer you will work as part of the Purchasing Team, driving and developing a fast paced and growing business. Responsible for the materials buying / planning for the manufacture of complex electro-mechanical systems and subsystems.
Accountabilities
- Process and manage orders to ensure suppliers are delivering in the correct time frames, with all cost and stock hold requirements being adhered to.
- Problem solve scenarios using a detailed insight of a manufacturing based MRP system to ensure that risk of excess stock and cost is minimised.
- Proactively look for cost savings through consolidation and negotiation with existing suppliers and sourcing and developing new suppliers.
- Ensure that existing suppliers are maintaining agreed cost and lead-time agreement.
- Prepare and circulate internal management reports.
- Maintain accuracy on system inputted data and allow the best visibility for the planning and production departments.
- Liaise closely with customer facing Managers
Experience
- Have previous experience working in buying role
- Experience in working with procurement platforms (Sage/CIM)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to speak to customers, clients and internal colleagues at all levels.
- Previous experience of working within manufacturing
- Strong administrative and data entry skills with good attention to detail.
- Experience/knowledge of producing accurate costings.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast paced and high pressure environment
