Every quarry face, every blast design and every tonne of rock moved depends on getting it right first time.At EPC-UK we lead the UK’s explosives and blasting services sector, and we’re developing our Explosives Engineering team.
We’re recruitingExplosives Engineersto work across the country.In this role you’ll set the standard for safe, efficient blasting. You’ll also help shape what good practice looks like for the industry as a whole.
What you’ll be doing
- Solving problems in the field. You’ll be the technical expert customers turn to. You’ll investigate issues, find root causes, and give independent, unbiased advice.
- Using data to show value. You’ll use EPC Metrics analytics to measure blast performance and show customers the commercial value of good engineering.
- Driving innovation. You’ll test new techniques, technologies, and software, and help develop the blasting systems of the future.
- Sharing what you know. You’ll help deliver Shotfiring, Explosives Supervisor and other industry courses, seminars, and toolbox talks.
- Publishing research. You’ll contribute to R&D projects and peer-reviewed scientific papers that move the field forward.
- Setting the benchmark for safety. You’ll lead by example on quality, safety, and environmental standards.
What you’ll bring
- A degree in science or engineering, ideally in mining, quarrying, or geology. A Master’s is a strong advantage.
- At least 5 years’ hands‑on experience using explosives in an industrial setting, ideally in quarrying.
- Practical knowledge of all the key explosive products.
- Shotfiring VQ and Explosives Supervision VQ, or equivalents.
- Strong IT skills: advanced MS Office, plus experience of database development and programming. You’ll also need to pick up new software quickly.
- Confident presentation skills. You’ll be talking to quarry operatives one day and the boardroom the next.
- Membership of industry bodies such as the ISEE, or the drive to join them.
- A calm head under pressure and a habit of questioning how things are done.
