The First Derivative Placement Program is a unique learning opportunity for university students to gain professional experience and industry exposure that will prove invaluable through education and beyond. Being entrusted with high levels of responsibility from day one, you’ll gain a sought-after skill set and benefit from the support of our HQ team over your year-long placement in one of the exciting positions we offer. We’re looking for passionate individuals to join us as part of our 2026/2027 Placement Programme! We have roles available in several departments, including Human Resources, Marketing, Analyst, Business Operations and Software Engineering.
Training
As a placement, you will have access to unparalleled training opportunities through structured learning and hands-on experience. You will take part in our world-renowned Capital Markets Training Program (CMTP) and boost your long-term career prospects from day one! During your placement year, you will become an integral part of our team, gaining exposure to many different areas of our business. From day one, you are a valued member of the team, and you will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and experienced consultants, who can help you define your future career path.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to live tasks and projects relevant to your placement area — e.g., support client work, internal operations, marketing campaigns, HR processes, or software tasks — gaining real-world experience from day one.
- Work closely with colleagues across departments to support delivery of team objectives, share insights, and learn from experienced professionals.
- Complete aspects of the Capital Markets Training Programme and other structured learning modules as part of your development during the placement.
- Help with day-to-day tasks relevant to your discipline.
- Develop core workplace skills and behaviours aligned with long-term career opportunities within the organisation.
Requirements
- Applicants should be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate degree in line with the position you’re applying for and be eligible for a 12-month placement year.
- Effective verbal and written communication, plus the ability to collaborate with diverse teams across the business.
- A proactive attitude, willingness to take on responsibility, and desire to grow professionally through hands-on experience.
- Basic skills relevant to the placement stream (e.g., coding fundamentals for Software Engineering, analytical skills for Analyst roles, marketing tools for Marketing placements).
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and think critically to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
