We're looking for a
Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team in London, United Kingdom in a hybrid working mode.
This role focuses on designing, building and optimizing large‑scale data platforms that combine legacy enterprise systems with modern AWS-based architectures.
You will work on performance tuning, API development, and platform modernization, while ensuring stability of critical services.
The position requires strong SQL Server expertise and the ability to operate confidently across complex systems.
It also offers an opportunity to leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and improve engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows
- Design and implement backend services and robust APIs for enterprise systems and integrations
- Support existing legacy platforms while driving iterative modernization initiatives
- Improve query performance, indexing strategies, and overall processing efficiency
- Build and maintain services within AWS environments to enable scalable architectures
- Implement automation, monitoring, and operational enhancements to improve reliability
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and platform-wide improvements
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and product teams to deliver business-critical solutions
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools as part of modern engineering workflows
Requirements
- Strong SQL Server capability including advanced queries, indexing, and performance tuning
- Experience with large relational data estates and high-volume structured data
- Backend development proficiency in C# or readiness to quickly transition to C#
- Knowledge of designing and building APIs for distributed systems
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and deployment practices
- Competence in working within complex enterprise or legacy technology environments
- Understanding of ETL processes and data-processing pipeline design
- Ability to apply AI-assisted development tools effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to performance and scalability

- Experience within financial data or market-data environments
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
