An opportunity has arisen to recruit an All-Island Finance Director to join our senior leadership team across the island of Ireland, as well as being an integral part of the wider leadership team across the EPUKI group.
As part of the senior leadership team, the All-Island Finance Director (AIFD) will be expected to be able to adapt and to use cutting edge technology to drive continuous improvement through finance; to be both strategic and forward thinking, as well as hands on and detailed. Within our lean organisation, the AIFD must operate as a culture carrier across the whole business, adding value to business plans and supporting in the achievement of commercial goals.
The role requires strong collaboration across operations, commercial and trading to ensure business targets and growth objectives are met. Therefore, the AIFD must be motivated to help drive performance within the business, developing strong cross-functional relationships and inspiring both the finance and wider business functions to take pride in their contribution to the performance of the company, fostering a strong solution-oriented mentality.
A key component of the role will involve making considered, highly accurate, business critical decisions under pressure and will challenge the post holder's high level of intellect, practical and commercial mindset and their ability to direct conclusions rather than wait for others to make them. The successful candidate will bring a complementary blend of technical, commercial, and corporate finance credentials, have an understanding of capital allocation and trading and be able to bring an element of practical thinking to key challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Being a key member of the All-Island senior leadership team involved in devising, implementing, and delivering business strategy.
- Acting as a critical financial business partner/sounding board to the All-Island wider leadership team.
- Leading and developing a high performing All-Island finance team focused on exceeding targets and objectives, including leveraging individual talents and capabilities, and encouraging individual responsibility and ownership.
- Overseeing the Finance team, ensuring that they drive Business Unit Gross Margin, cost control and cash flow performance, and ensuring all relevant parties are in receipt of analytical support.
- Co-ordinating and monitoring the financial impact of hedging activities with the Trading team and business unit leaders.
- Reviewing and identifying gaps in functional processes and outputs and create a plan to bridge them.
- Enhancing existing operational processes, systems, and procedures to ensure efficiency improvements are realised, bringing experience of using technology to automate wherever possible.
- Anticipating and evaluating the impact of new and amended regulation on the business and provide expert guidance to the senior team and Board on its implementation.
- Oversight and governance of business reporting and planning processes, ensuring strong financial controls over expenditure, reporting, hedging and cash management.
- Monitoring and amending trading and credit risk management, including cashflow, collateral and credit optimisation.
- Oversight of financing activities, including covenant monitoring and compliance, new project finance issuance and EPH group funding rounds as required.
- Leading the various Pension optimisation strategies across the All-Island group.
- Liaising with Tax regarding the execution of tax strategy and tax compliance activities at asset-level operations groups.
- Liaising with EPH Finance in Prague to ensure conformity with Group Finance reporting requirements.
- Conducting special projects as and when required.
- Previously held a senior Finance position (ideally at CFO / FD level, however exceptional step-up candidates will be considered).
- Previously operated as an integral part of the senior commercial leadership of an organisation.
- Managed high performance teams of c.10+ individuals, leveraging and growing internal talent.
- Experience within energy, utilities or the large-scale industrial commodity processes sector would be highly advantageous.
- Broad experience across Finance / business faculties is required, including; Accounting Standards, Controls and Processes, FP&A, Business Partnering, Working in a Regulated Industry, Tax, Statutory Accounting, Cash Cycle and Working Capital Management.
- Excellent knowledge of the MS Office suite.
- Strong Excel skills, with the ability to apply those skills to market modelling and analysis.
- Experience of how technology can assist in driving automation across Finance processes.
- Ability to multi-task and act quickly in a fast-paced environment.
