Description
An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Lead Asset Management Engineer (Plant Integrity) to join our Central Engineering team for up to 18 months. The role will cover all our assets, so the base location is flexible to be any one of our sites or offices across UK and Ireland.
The successful candidate will safely and effectively deliver the longer-term Engineering, Quality and Maintenance Strategy of the operational EPUKI fleet, as well as deliver effective support to complex breakdown and reliability issues.
The role holder will have expert mechanical knowledge and will act as the technical expert in all matters mechanical. They will also be responsible for the development and implementation of technical solutions to support safe plant performance.
It is expected that this role could spend 30-50% of their time working on construction projects, dependent on project volumes. Some periods will also require deputising for other roles, covering the other managerial positions on site and supporting the wider EPUKI teams on short term secondments.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the key duties and responsibilities will be:
- Designing, developing and delivering the Engineering Strategy within the speciality.
- Be the technical expert of all matters mechanical, particularly relating to PSSR.
- Oversight of engineering project development and implementation.
- Delivering innovative technical solutions.
- Supporting major plant outages.
- Establishing and maintaining agreements with key maintenance and operations service providers and contractors, supporting the fleet in contractor selection, tender creation, review and execution.
- Technical nomination processes and work with the site managers to ensure that all staff achieve their highest level of competence.
- Carrying out technical RCA, including cross site RCA investigations and promptly share the lessons from all incidents, share best practice across the fleet.
- Delivery of the EPUKI quality programme.
- Supporting the creation and challenge of site investment decisions.
- Delivering consistent Management of Change.
- Delivering cross fleet risk management.
- Assisting with employee recruitment, selection, and training in the engineering area.
- Providing leadership and direction to the engineering teams, including managing individual and team performance.
- Providing technical oversight and audit of external resources (including operational and construction projects).
- Leading and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) design studies to ensure that supplied product is fit for purpose and complies to requirements both in terms of product dimensional accuracy and drawing quality.
- Conducting periodic audits of the management system and reporting on process compliance, chasing up and closing down any audit improvement actions identified.
- Conducting audits and supplier surveillance visits at suppliers\’ locations to support the EP supply chain function.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background
- Prior experience in a Senior Engineering role working cross fleet, ideally a power station or similar infrastructure, specifically with CCGT power generation operational experience – essential.
- Experience in establishing and implementing a proactive approach towards Health, Safety and Environment management – essential.
- Understanding and commitment to building and leading a constructive culture where employees are provided with challenges and opportunities – essential.
- Experience in leading and managing a substantial number of employees in a process driven environment – essential.
- Ability to demonstrate and utilise extensive knowledge and experience of engineering, operational and maintenance management – essential.
- Construction experience – desirable.
