About the Role
The Project Manager will take full responsibility for delivery of the construction element of the assigned portfolio of projects across the UK. The role will interact closely with the Head of Construction and Senior Project Manager (who directly report) and wider teams in the Projects/Delivery business unit. In addition, the job holder will actively participate in specific project concept, development, software, O&M activity and be responsible for ensuring bid/contract governance compliance. The role will require commercial and contractual competence to manage both upstream and downstream elements of any contract. The role is at the forefront of designing and delivering an expansion strategy to grow the team as the business expands across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Independently oversee, manage, and deliver a portfolio of projects with a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, customer communication, commercial activity, programme management, reporting and optimisation.
- Responsibility for planning and reporting activity associated with each project assigned.
- Work closely with the commercial team and senior pre-construction manager to ensure development activity is compliant to client requirement for any assigned project and ready to be used for bid purposes.
- Responsible for contract letting for related portfolio contracts, negotiation, contractual programme and identifying preferred contractor.
- Working with commercial, take responsibility for construction contract agreement and signing both upstream and downstream.
- Responsible for ensuring client approval of any detailed design.
- Responsible for ensuring all pre-mobilisation activity is completed in relation to CDM compliance.
- Ensuring the appointed CDM contractor is mobilising to program and managing all 3rd parties associated with project.
- Responsible for ensuring legal support required for offsite activity in relation to wayleaves is running as per project timeline.
- Responsible for delivering project associated governance activity during construction.
- Responsible for delivering internal project reporting activity during construction.
- Responsible for ensuring client project weekly reporting is completed.
- Responsible for chairing and minuting project progress meetings during construction.
- Responsible for ensuring that a snagging register is initiated and managed for the duration of the construction.
- Responsible for management of Technical Query process and ensuring all queries are formalised and instruction adopted and as built drawings updated.
- Working with commercial, responsible for management of compensation event log, activity schedule compliance and milestone payment activity during construction.
- For non-complex activity, preparation, processing and award of estimates, quotes, bids and tenders for installation and ongoing servicing where applicable.
- Responsible for evidencing CDM compliance via auditing (via site liaison or otherwise) for duration of construction.
- Responsible for ensuring all testing and commission activity is compliant to accreditations and manufacturer recommendations inclusive of back-office software.
- Responsible for ensuring all training activity is prepared, compliant, delivered and signed off.
- Responsibility for ensuring close out of snagging register.
- Responsible for ensuring safety walk round is completed and project handover is documented and warranty period initiated.
- Responsible for ensuring O&M activity is initiated where applicable.
- Responsible for ensuring any project associated close out governance is completed.
Requirements
- Project management qualification (APM/Prince2).
- Relevant technical qualification.
- An electrical/civils background, with experience working on infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrate the ability to balance priorities among competing needs whilst providing the highest level of value to the company.
- Demonstrate programme management experience with a delivery business unit.
- Experience of supply chain management.
- Ability to perform a key role within a governance framework.
- Commercially aware with a strong proven background in infrastructure project delivery and associated contracts.
- Ability to collaborate ensuring compliance to health, safety, and environmental legislation. Able to minimise risk through developing and endorsing safe operating processes.
- Proven track record of delivering targets whilst maintaining outstanding customer relations/services.
