A Fantastic Opportunity: SP Electricity North West is looking for a skilled Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team and provide expert commercial and contractual support across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations, internal controls, and industry standards.
What you'll be doing:
- Highlight potential risks and opportunities to the wider Commercial team
- Assist the wider Commercial team with final account compilation, submissions and Contractor reviews
- Assisting Project and Programme Managers with Works Order pricing
- Assisting Project and Programme Managers with assessment of tender returns
- Identification of variations and processing in line with Contract requirements terms
- Assist the wider Commercial team in the management of disputes in line with level of responsibility
- Assist the wider Commercial team in providing support to the Operations business with Contractor performance management against established standards and business requirements
- Assist the wide Commercial team to ensure contract compliance, through effective contract management activities; support the Project Delivery teams in producing all necessary contract instructions and communications for successful project delivery
- Assist with delivery of Commercial briefings and compilation of Commercial reports
- Attend construction sites regularly to review and monitor delivery partners progress of the assigned portfolio of projects to verify their costs, compensation events / variations and identify early warnings.
What you'll need:
- HNC or above in Quantity Surveying
- Relevant experience in the construction or utilities industry
- Awareness of cost value reconciliation reporting (CVR's), cost control and forecasting
- Awareness in contract administration with standard form contracts such as but not limited to NEC and JCT
- Proven numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Punctual, organised and efficient, with good problem-solving capabilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software such SAP
- Full UK driving licence
