Our Area Operations North team has a fantastic opportunity for an Overhead Worker to join them in Penrith.
Our Role
The team are responsible for carrying out the maintenance, repair and refurbishment activities on our overhead lines so that our customers can enjoy a reliable and efficient electricity supply. You will participate in the construction and refurbishment of the overhead power distribution network and in fault location and repair work. This takes place during working hours and after hours when required, ensuring that interruptions to customers' electricity supplies are kept to a minimum.
As an Overhead Line Operative, you can expect to:
- Report on progress throughout thereby enabling colleagues within the Customer Contact Centre to keep our customers fully informed at all times.
- Be part of the team responsible for the inspection and maintenance of various items of overhead plant.
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified to NVQ or City & Guilds level 2 or equivalent;
- Hold a current HV/LV/Limited Authorisation for overhead line work on the Electricity North West network or other DNO.
- Have proven experience working at height;
- Are fully proficient in the use of overhead line equipment, winches, MEWPs, tracked excavators etc.;
- Qualified to carry out pole top rescue;
- Have extensive knowledge of the safety requirements for working on and around overhead power lines;
- Have experience of leading and/or being a member of a working party under a safety document;
- Are familiar with working in accordance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, processes and procedures;
- Hold a full, valid UK driving licence (essential) with a HGV licence (desirable);
- Experienced in off road driving;
- Can demonstrate the ability to complete paperwork relating to work based activities (essential);
- Have a working knowledge of computers and mobile devices (desirable).
