Data Protection Analyst in Manchester

A Fantastic Opportunity: Data Protection Analyst (Fixed term contract until 31 January 2027)

SP Electricity North West manages and invests in the power network that supplies electricity to the 2.4m homes and businesses across the North West. Our 2,400 colleagues manage the 13,000km of overhead lines, 44,000km of underground cables and thousands of electricity substations to keep power flowing and supporting green growth. We’re one of six distribution network operators in the UK and are regulated by Ofgem.

As a Data Protection Analyst, you will support the organisation in maintaining compliance with data protection legislation by monitoring, analysing, and improving data handling practices. The Data Protection Analyst plays a key role in identifying risks, implementing controls, and providing operational support to ensure personal data is processed lawfully, securely, and transparently. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer and wider teams, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of data protection policies, support investigations into data breaches, and help embed a culture of data protection awareness across the organisation.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment, have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

• A background in or a significant knowledge and understanding of data protection; professional qualifications would be beneficial.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills – credible at senior management level with the ability to challenge constructively.
• Resilience, with the ability to work under pressure and to deliver quality deliverables to tight timescales.
• Self-motivated and self-driven.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Strong IT and analytical skills, with a strong customer focus.
