We’re one of six distribution network operators in the UK and are regulated by Ofgem. We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine who said we punched above our weight and used innovation to solve some of the industry’s most difficult challenges. Now part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower group, we’re collectively building smarter, greener electricity networks that will get Britain growing by investing in a better future, quicker.

A Fantastic Opportunity: Junior Systems Engineer

The Junior Systems Engineer sits within the team that supports the delivery and maintenance of SP Electricity North West’s Work and Asset Management (WAM) systems, which are essential to the smooth running of operational and asset‑related activities across the business. The team handles a wide range of system queries, configuration tasks, and change requests, providing vital support to internal users and helping ensure systems are reliable, accurate, and fit for purpose.

As the Junior Systems Engineer you will assist in delivering small system changes and enhancements under supervision while actively participating in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and daily stand‑ups as a team member. You will support the preparation and execution of user acceptance testing and regression testing and help investigate and resolve basic incidents and service requests related to WAM systems. You will maintain and update system documentation and user guides, and collaborate with business users and analysts to better understand requirements and processes. You will also have the opportunity to develop skills in low‑code platforms such as Microsoft PowerApps and APIs for system configuration. You must, at the start of employment, have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

  • A genuine interest in IT systems, digital tools, and how technology supports business operations;
  • A basic understanding of software applications and how they are used in a business context;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • A market‑leading contributory pension scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
