Electricity North West Construction & Maintenance Limited (ENWCML) is the specialist engineering arm of the Electricity North West Group. We deliver high and low voltage infrastructure services across the UK, operating independently from the regulated network business. Our expertise spans the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of private electrical networks for commercial and industrial clients. With a growing national footprint and a reputation for technical excellence, ENWCML plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s energy transition and infrastructure resilience.
As a member of the Senior Leadership team of Electricity North West (Construction & Maintenance) Limited, you will be responsible for leading the sales, business development, engineering and design function. The geographical focus of this business is the North West, North East of England, the Midlands, Southern Scotland and Wales. You will hold overall responsibility for lead origination and sales delivery, driving an annual turnover of approximately £25m and supporting ambitious growth to £50-60m over the next three years.
Working closely with the Head of Infrastructure Projects and the wider senior leadership team, you will play a central role in shaping and executing the company’s commercial strategy. In this role, you will develop and deliver the commercial objectives of the business, taking ownership of performance management and proactively addressing any shortfalls. You will build and lead a high performing sales function, ensuring targets are achieved and that the team consistently operates to the highest standards.
A key part of the position involves strategic networking and continuous promotion of the services provided, strengthening the company’s market presence and expanding opportunities. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong strategic relationships with existing customers while also developing new partnerships. By gaining a deep understanding of customer needs, you will provide effective solutions that support the achievement of commercial revenue targets, managing challenges as they arise to successful resolution.
You will oversee contract negotiations, ensuring that commercial agreements are sound, competitive, and aligned with business goals. Alongside this, you will have overall responsibility for the engineering and design function, ensuring the delivery of appropriate and technically robust solutions that meet customer expectations. As a visible safety champion, you will foster a positive safety culture across the organisation, working closely with health, safety and environment teams, along with leaders across the group, to ensure compliance and best practice.
You will lead the development and execution of strategic plans, systems, and processes that underpin the company’s growth ambitions. Creating and embedding a culture of continuous improvement will be essential in supporting sustainable business success. As the business expands, you will also lead and develop the Customer Solutions team, ensuring it evolves in line with growth targets and future objectives.
What we’re looking for:
- Executive level experience leading an electrical construction and maintenance business.
- Previous experience of managing a P&L with responsibility for >£5m turnover business or function and growing this in line with business growth targets.
- Customer centric, with extensive sales and customer relationship management experience promoting value of customer outcomes with team and peers.
- Commercially driven with a robust and committed focus on business performance ensuring products met customer needs.
- Pipeline and work bank management experience.
- Construction project management experience across complete lifecycle for projects with value in excess of £500k.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience with the ability to build strategic relationships quickly.
- Previous experience of managing large teams of technical and commercial staff.
