Our client is a well-established business within the power distribution and renewable energy sector, providing services across the UK. They specialise in substation and infrastructure projects, renewable energy projects, contestable connections, and private network installations. The team prides itself on delivering adaptable, customer-focused solutions with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and value.

The HV Technician will join the Project Delivery team, supporting the installation of high and low voltage electrical equipment across a range of projects. This includes substations, renewable energy developments, and private network connections.

Key Tasks
  • Installation of LV/HV substation equipment
  • Installation of multicore cables and associated equipment for protection and control systems
  • HV cable installation, including jointing (essential)
  • Transformer tails/terminations
  • Supporting commissioning activity on new build projects
  • Small/panel wiring
  • Small power and lighting
  • Installation of earthing and associated equipment
  • Adhering to health, safety, and environmental standards and practices
  • Working as part of a site team in line with project instructions and work packs
  • Attending training and development opportunities as required
  • Promoting a positive company image to clients
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
  • Experience within the HV industry
  • Emergency First Aid & Manual Handling
  • CSCS / ECS Card
  • 18th Edition qualification
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable
  • Current HV/LV Authorisation – at technician, jointer, or fitter level (11kV and 33kV private networks or DNO)
  • City & Guilds Inspection and Testing
  • ONC/BTEC – Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • LV/HV cable jointing
  • MEWP licence
  • Scaffolding (PASMA) certification
  • Proven track record in industrial electrical engineering and installation
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and flow diagrams
