We are a specialist design, refurb and new build contractor delivering a portfolio of modular education new-build and refurbishment schemes across London. With a strong pipeline of projects mobilising over the next six months, we are looking for an experienced freelance Senior Planner to join us immediately.
The opportunity
This is a twelve-month engagement across multiple live schemes, ranging from £500k to £25m+ modular new-build. You'll have continuity of work, a clear reporting line into the PM, and the opportunity to shape the planning function in a growing SME.
The role
You'll spend the first two weeks establishing the existing programme in your preferred format before settling into a rhythm of one to one and a half days per week across the portfolio. As further projects mobilise, your involvement will scale accordingly.
What you'll be doing
- Establishing and maintaining robust programmes to the required level of detail across live projects and bid submissions
- Managing progress against baseline and producing clear, accurate reporting
- Managing client and subcontractor change, extensions of time and delay mitigation
- Working closely with internal PM and QS teams on a day-to-day basis, while engaging with Subcontractors as appropriate
- Advising senior leadership on programme status, risks and opportunities
- Reviewing existing programmes, producing new programmes where required, identifying risks to completion, monitoring progress on site and supporting project teams with programme recovery strategies
- Assisting with Extension of Time submissions, delay analysis and demonstrating the impact of variations, design changes and client-driven delays
What we need
- Construction planning experience within the UK construction industry
- Proven experience on modular construction schemes — essential, not desirable
- Education new-build and refurbishment experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and experience of working under JCT contracts
- Expert user in Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working independently in an SME environment without a large support structure
- Self-starter and strong communicator — able to translate programme complexity into clear, actionable insight for both technical and senior audiences
Location
