Application Support Engineer – Envitia
Envitia is a leading technology company specialising in data intelligence, AI and geospatial solutions. We are building something special by using the power of data to tackle real‑world challenges and empower organisations to make smarter, data‑driven decisions.
The Role
As part of our continued growth, Envitia is expanding its Application Engineering capability and is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our team. In this role you will work directly with Envitia’s customers—primarily across UK Defence and Government—supporting critical systems through activities such as deployments, patching, upgrades, health checks and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Carry out installation and support activities, including system deployments, routine health checks, log inspections, patching and upgrades.
- Deliver both reactive and proactive support, escalating issues where service levels or quality may be at risk.
- Manage and update support tickets promptly, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
- Maintain in‑house reference systems that mirror customer environments.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, contributing to a growing knowledge base that strengthens service delivery and resilience.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, promoting Envitia’s reputation for reliability and excellence.
- Keep Account Managers informed on customer sentiment, personnel changes and potential opportunities identified through support interactions.
Required Skills
- Experience deploying and hosting applications within corporate Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly PowerShell and Bash.
- Familiarity with Java‑based applications; hands‑on development experience is an advantage.
- Experience managing application hosting in Cloud or virtualised environments such as Azure, AWS, or VMware.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Experience supporting applications with integration and connectivity challenges.
- Capable of working independently to provide effective 1st and 2nd line support.
- Experience with typical containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Nomad).
Security Clearance Requirements
The successful candidate must be required to go through an SC security clearance.
Location
The role will require travel to our Horsham offices at least 2 days a month and travel to customer sites when required.
