The opportunity

We're looking for an Associate Medical Editor to join our team and build a strong foundation in medical communications editing within a collaborative, fast-paced agency environment. This is an entry-level role in the editorial career pathway, offering the opportunity to develop core skills across proofreading, copyediting, styling, and formatting while working on a wide variety of scientific and healthcare deliverables.

You’ll partner closely with Medical, Account, and Creative colleagues across Envision Medical Communications (EMC), supporting the production of high-quality client materials across multiple formats. With guidance and mentorship from experienced editors, you’ll play an important role in ensuring content is accurate, consistent, and delivered on time and within budget.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited to grow their career in medical editing while contributing to meaningful healthcare communications projects.

Role responsibilities

  • Proofread, copyedit, and format a range of medical communications deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to internal and client style guidelines.
  • Apply editorial standards (eg, AMA Manual of Style) and compliance/regulatory awareness to support high-quality scientific content.
  • Review figures, tables, references, and layouts for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with templates and briefs.
  • Check functionality of digital materials (eg, hyperlinks, animations) to ensure deliverables are client-ready.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, escalating risks proactively to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical, Account, and Creative teams to support timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Track time accurately and maintain awareness of project scope, timelines, and financial considerations.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and contribute to continuous process improvements.
  • Seek feedback, participate in training, and expand skills across new deliverable types to support professional growth.
  • Contribute positively to team culture, demonstrating professionalism and alignment with company values.

  • Strong editing skills with the ability to produce clear, grammatically accurate content in English (or the client's required language).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), with confidence working across multiple document formats.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and exposure to tools such as reference management, graphing, and project management software.
  • Ability to interpret and apply feedback effectively, understanding its impact on content accuracy, consistency, and overall communication objectives.
