About the Role
A (BESS) Field Service Engineer assists with the device research and testing protocols; writes battery testing schedules; installs production equipment or systems. Responsibilities include data collection, analysis, statistical understanding, writing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), preparing contracts, disclosures, applications, procedural documents, and technical reports. The role involves carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance and working extensively with other stakeholders within the (BESS) team, including MEP, Development, and Construction to ensure that any factors impacting the effective operation of our BESS assets are understood and actively managed. Regular site visits will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Adopting a culture of HSE excellence within both your own team and company.
- Develop an Operation and Maintenance function to fulfil our asset management and O&M objectives as our asset base grows.
- Ensure to deliver O&M services for BESS assets and develop to ensure effective and efficient delivery of works.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that operational and technical escalations are managed in line with regulatory, contractual & commercial obligations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues with our O&M service team and technical partners to identify and resolve issues.
- Identifying areas of need for improvement and further optimisation of the system to enhance further efficiency.
- Assist with phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
- Maintain Envision – Energy Storage Systems to a high standard by carrying out annual PPM checks, annual capacity tests and reactive works.
- Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
- Keep up to date with any administrative duties such as time sheets, daily vehicle checks and providing daily job logs and reports, describing issues and actions taken during the service trips.
- Troubleshoot equipment located at customer sites.
- Perform start-up and commissioning services at customer locations (SAT).
- Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and or project work.
- Provide suggestions based on field experiences to improve products.
- Prepare and perform customer training at Envision as well as customer facilities (if required).
- Initial office location will be closest site to your home.
- Company vehicle will be provided after 6 months of training and certification of envision systems.
- Pool car will be available with the team for the first period for travelling from site to site as accompanied with specialist team.
- The position requires the ability to travel within Great Britain.
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Qualifications & Experience
- H & S knowledge and experience within electrical installation projects (RAMS / SHEQ / CDM).
- Previous experience in an Electrical Contracting / Construction environment/Mechanical.
- Desirable knowledge of electrical works BS7671 such as renewables, Battery storage Electric Vehicle Charge Point, PV, Installations etc.
- 18th edition of the BS EAL / IEE installation regulations.
- City and guilds electrical certification level 3 NVQ, 5357 EAL, EAL or equivalent.
- ECS card registered with the IEC.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages.
- Able to organise and prioritise to meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving.
- Full UK driving license.
