About the role:
A remote-control centre (RCC) manager, leading a team to oversee the operations of a central hub that monitors and controls industrial BESS assets from a remote location. The core function is to ensure the safety, efficiency, and continuous performance of systems from a distance, overseeing daily operations, managing performance, strategic planning, and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead control room personnel, which may include managing shifts for 24/7 coverage.
- Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed for monitoring, responding to, and resolving incidents.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system performance and response times.
- Coordinate with field operations, engineering, vendors, and customers to resolve complex issues.
- Utilise specialised software and systems, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or Human-Machine Interface (HMI), to monitor alarms and performance.
- Perform trend analysis and monitor alarms to identify performance issues and recommend improvements.
- Oversee the management of data analytics and ensure the accuracy of real-time information.
- Stay informed on advancements in surveillance or control technology and recommend system enhancements.
- Serve as the key point of contact for escalating incidents and coordinating a rapid, effective response to issues or emergencies.
- Develop, document, and implement emergency response protocols and control strategy enhancements.
- Conduct post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Train and develop a high-performing team of operators and supervisors.
- Set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching to support team development.
- Foster a collaborative and high-integrity team environment, especially when working in a 24/7 setting.
- Ensure that all control room activities adhere to regulatory standards and company policies, including safety standards.
- Champion a culture of health and safety within the control centre and promote continuous improvement through best practices.
