About the Role
A Maintenance Manager which presents an opportunity to develop the O&M function within our fast-growing Operations and Maintenance department. Reporting to the O&M Director of BESS, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Operations and Maintenance services provided by the field Engineers on the battery storage projects.
The role will work extensively with other stakeholders within the (BESS) team, including MEP, Development, and Construction to ensure that any factors that impact the effective operation of our BESS assets are understood and actively managed.
The role will also be responsible for ensuring that our Engineering teams perform fully and in line with our contractual arrangements and ensure working collaboratively with the client and the clients’ representatives.
Regular site visits will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the Energy Storage Systems to a high standard by carrying out required PPM checks, annual capacity tests and reactive works.
- Adopting a culture of HSE excellence within both your own team and company.
- Develop an Operation and Maintenance function to fulfil our asset management and O&M objectives as our asset base grows.
- Ensure to deliver O&M services for BESS assets and develop to ensure effective and efficient delivery of works.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that operational and technical escalations are managed in line with regulatory, contractual & commercial obligations.
- Troubleshoot operational issues with our O&M service team and technical partners to identify and resolve issues.
- Considerable experience in an Asset Management and/or Operational leadership role associated to energy networks and/or Renewables.
- Compile and submit monthly availability reports, identifying areas of need for improvement and further optimisation of the system to enhance further efficiency.
- Responsible for all O&M to always be working in a safe manner.
- Assist with phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.
- Keep up to date with any administrative duties such as time sheets, daily vehicle checks and providing daily job logs and reports, compile the reports and submit to the senior management team,
- Assist with Troubleshooting equipment located at customer sites.
- Assist the project team with start-up and commissioning services at customer locations (SAT).
- Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and or project work.
- Provide suggestions based on field engineers’ experiences to improve products.
- Any other duties as required.
- The position requires the ability to travel within Great Britain.
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years experience
- H & S knowledge and experience within electrical installation projects (RAMS / SHEQ /CDM)
- Strong knowledge of energy management best practices, energy efficiency, and renewable technologies.
- Commercially excellent – with ability to spot what matters and bring clarity to efforts in the team.
- Experience of Asset Operational Data Analysis and Reporting, preferably but not essentially within the utilities, process or oil and gas sector, other industries will be considered.
- Engineering and Technical knowledge and experience with awareness of operational contract constraints and understanding of business and technical risks.
- H&S qualification IOSH or NEBOSH & SMSTS.
- EHS relevant experience, like RAMS, COSHH etc
- Previous experience in an Electrical Contracting / Construction environment
- Desirable knowledge of electrical works BS7671 such as renewables, Battery storage Electric Vehicle Charge Pont, PV, Installations etc.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages
- Able to organize and priorities to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication

- The position requires the ability to travel within Great Britain.
- Full UK driving license.
