About the role: Reporting directly to the Director – BESS EPC Projects. In the role of the Design Interface Manager you will play a key role establishing key design interface requirements pre contract and delivery of such post contract. You will be at the centre of a key aspect of the project delivery requirement interfacing directly with the customer, internal teams and other project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting Sales & Commercial teams in late-stage bids to understand Employer Requirements and determine scope of agreed design deliverables aligned with BoP interfaces.
- Provide support to Project Managers and delivery teams by providing Design Interface leadership to ensure contractual design deliverables are met.
- Supporting Envision’s BESS project development initiatives from conception to implementation.
- Leading the development of concept and preliminary designs for BESS Balance of Plant electrical systems, adhering to Envision's engineering standards and guidelines. (EPC Projects)
- Executing detailed design activities for large-scale transmission-connected battery storage projects, with a focus on infrastructure design for transmission voltages ranging from 33kV to 400kV. (EPC Projects)
- Generating layouts and designs for BESS sites, ensuring reliability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with customer requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining engineering design criteria, standards, and specifications specific to BESS projects.
- Providing technical oversight and support for engineering and design aspects of energy storage projects, facilitating collaboration between different engineering disciplines.
- Managing the interface between project development and EPCs, ensuring seamless integration of Envision products.
- Collaborating with BoPs/ICPs/TOs/DNOs (Balance of Plant Providers, Independent Connection Providers, Transmission Network Operators & Distribution Network Operators) and EPCs on substation design and cable routing for BESS projects.
- Working with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) interfaces and adhering to relevant standards such as ENA/BS/IEC/G81 to support cable design and system integration.
- Designing BESS site layouts and interfaces, including considerations for solar integration where applicable.
Qualification and expertise:
- Relevant Engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in HV Substation / BoP design within a UK context, experience outside Europe not essential but advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively interface with internal teams, external stakeholders, and project partners.
