Cover Supervisor - Immediate Start
Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor or HLTA looking for your next school-based opportunity?
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Watford that is seeking a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.
This is a classroom-based role and it would suit an experienced education professional who can confidently take responsibility for a class, deliver pre-set work, manage behaviour, and ensure students remain focused and engaged in the absence of their usual teacher.
Please note: candidates must have either previous, referenceable experience covering lessons in UK schools or ideally hold an HLTA qualification.
As a Cover Supervisor, You Will:
- Supervise classes across the school during teacher absences.
- Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain engaged and on task.
- Maintain positive behaviour and clear classroom expectations.
- Build professional and positive relationships with students.
- Support pupils with their learning and encourage participation.
- Work with students with a range of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH.
- Respond calmly and confidently to behaviour challenges.
- Work closely with teachers, TAs and the wider school team.
- Support break and lunchtime supervision.
- Contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Previous experience covering lessons in a UK school, with a school reference available to verify this experience, or an HLTA qualification - essential.
- Confident classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to establish clear boundaries and maintain high expectations.
- A calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour management.
- The ability to follow lesson plans and deliver pre-set work effectively.
- An understanding of SEND and inclusive practice.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD or SEMH is desirable.
- A reliable, professional and team-focused approach.
- A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing, engagement and progress.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one.
