Location: Southall, West London
Salary: Dependent on experience and school pay scale
Contract: To be confirmed
Are you a qualified teacher with experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are seeking a committed and skilled PSHE Teacher to join a primary school in Southall, supporting pupils to develop the personal, social and emotional skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who understands the importance of personal development and can deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that reflect the individual needs, abilities and experiences of their pupils.
The Role
As a PSHE Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that help primary-aged children develop their emotional literacy, confidence, resilience and understanding of the world around them. You will play an important role in promoting positive relationships, healthy choices, personal safety and respect for others.
Working with pupils with SEND, you will adapt your teaching to ensure lessons are accessible, relevant and meaningful for every child. You will create a structured and supportive learning environment where pupils feel safe to participate, express themselves and develop greater independence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging PSHE lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of primary-aged pupils.
- Adapting resources, teaching methods and activities to accommodate a range of SEND, learning styles and communication needs.
- Covering relevant areas of personal, social, health and relationships education in line with the school's curriculum.
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, resilience, positive relationships and appropriate behaviour.
- Establishing clear expectations and maintaining a safe, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment.
- Monitoring pupils' progress and adapting lesson plans to support their individual development.
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, the SENDCo, colleagues and, where appropriate, parents and carers.
- Following the school's safeguarding, behaviour management and inclusion policies at all times.
Requirements
To be considered for this position it is required to have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognised for teaching in England.
- Previous experience working with children with SEND in a school or educational setting.
- The ability to plan and deliver effective lessons that meet a range of individual learning needs.
- A sound understanding of inclusive teaching practices and the importance of personal, social and emotional development.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive, professional relationships with pupils.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The right to work in the UK.
- A willingness to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and all required pre-employment safeguarding checks.
- The ability to provide satisfactory references and evidence of qualifications and employment history.
Experience teaching PSHE within a primary setting would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the primary PSHE curriculum and experience supporting pupils with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, or communication difficulties.
Why Apply?
- The opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to children's personal development and wellbeing.
- The chance to use your SEND experience to make learning more accessible and inclusive.
- The opportunity to work collaboratively with school staff to support pupils' wider development.
- A rewarding teaching role in which you can help children build confidence, develop essential life skills and make progress at their own pace.
Safeguarding Statement
The school and recruitment agency are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants will be subject to appropriate safeguarding and safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, verification of qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK.
