Envision Education is currently recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work within the SEN Unit of a mainstream primary school. This is a full-time, long-term position, working Monday to Friday.

Although the school is a mainstream primary setting, this position is based full-time within its dedicated SEN Unit, supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We are looking for a patient, caring and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff to provide individualised support and help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

  • Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional and communication development.

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated and engaging learning activities.

  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupils' needs.

  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement with learning.

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals.

  • Help maintain a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times.

Experience, Training and Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is essential.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.

  • Previous experience within an SEN Unit, specialist school or SEND provision would be advantageous.

  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children with additional needs.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Why Envision Education?

  • Competitive PAYE pay with no umbrella company deductions.

  • Long-term, full-time opportunity.

  • Opportunity to gain valuable experience working within a dedicated SEN Unit.

  • Supportive school environment and leadership team.

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Envision Education consultant.

If you're passionate about supporting children with additional needs and are looking for a full-time role within a dedicated SEN Unit, we'd love to hear from you.
