We are partnering with a welcoming specialist school in Hemel Hempstead that is looking for SEND Teaching Assistants to support children with severe learning difficulties (SLD). This is a hands-on role where you will help pupils access learning, develop their independence and feel supported throughout the school day. Personal care may be involved.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide classroom, 1:1 and small-group support tailored to pupils' needs.
- Help children engage with learning, communication and daily routines.
- Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and use positive behaviour strategies.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, inclusive environment.
For this role, you will have:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally including SLD.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Confidence supporting pupils with a range of communication and learning needs.
- Willingness to assist with personal care if required.
