We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Bushey, supporting pupils with profound learning difficulties and complex additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, helping them develop their communication, confidence, independence, and life skills within a nurturing and supportive environment.
This is a full-time position starting in September, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher with engaging and accessible lessons.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs.
- Encourage pupils' communication, confidence, and independence.
- Support pupils with sensory, physical, and personal care needs where required.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
- Work closely with teachers and the wider school team.
Essential
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (minimum 3 months).
- A caring, patient, and compassionate approach.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a Bachelor's Degree.
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, sensory strategies, or other communication approaches.
- Free CPD training to help you develop your skills.
