Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant in the Welwyn Garden City area to support students with SEND in a welcoming and supportive school environment. This is a full‑time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.
Previous experience working with children with autism and challenging behaviours in the UK is preferred, but not essential for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support student development by working closely with children who have autism and may display challenging behaviours, helping them engage positively in the learning environment. Working closely with teachers and other staff members, the Learning Support Assistant will help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment tailored to each student’s individual needs. Providing one‑to‑one and small group support, the Learning Support Assistant will help students stay focused, build confidence, and make progress towards their developmental and educational goals. The Learning Support Assistant will also assist teachers with planning activities, preparing classroom materials, maintaining records, and supporting general classroom organisation to enhance the students’ learning experience.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children is beneficial, particularly with autism or challenging behaviours
- A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them overcome learning barriers
- A willingness to work with students with SEND needs
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check
- Ideally based in or near Welwyn Garden City, or able to commute reliably
