Are you passionate about supporting children with complex needs and making a meaningful difference every day? Do you have experience working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)? If you are based in or around Hemel Hempstead and looking for a full-time opportunity, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Child Support Worker to join a specialist school in Hemel Hempstead. You will be supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and pre-verbal communication needs. This is a full-time, temp-to-perm position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD, including non-verbal children and wheelchair users
  • Assist in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities that support development, independence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to help achieve the best possible outcomes for each pupil
  • Support with personal care needs and administer medication where required
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to help create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment

Requirements

  • Full-time availability (Mon–Fri, 8:30am–3:30pm)
  • Confident supporting children or young adults with complex needs or PMLD
  • Experience within SEND or care settings (references required)
  • Hold or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS
  • Local to Hemel Hempstead or able to commute reliably
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach
