Job Purpose
We are seeking a qualified Patent Attorney to join our IP Team. In this role, you will support the existing inâhouse IP counsel in managing and rapidly growing the company's patent portfolio. You will work with some of the world's top scientists and engineers, leveraging our holographic platform that combines complex materials science and proprietary algorithms, with over 1200 patents issued or pending.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft patents related to exciting and challenging technologies.
- Manage worldwide filing programs and corresponding prosecution through to grant.
- Stay updated with manufacturing and supply chain arrangements to tailor patent strategy accordingly.
- Actively engage with technical teams to foster invention capture.
- Monitor R&D activities and crossâcheck against the company's patents.
- Continuously review the company's patent position across all product lines.
- Perform thirdâparty monitoring, competitor analysis, and support due diligence.
- Assess potential conflicts from a patent perspective.
- Guide technical teams regarding thirdâparty IP and innovation hot spots and cold spots.
- Assist with existing patent license arrangements and royalty management.
- Support the development of new licensing opportunities.
- Provide staff training and support regarding technical innovation.
- Work closely and efficiently with the existing IP admin manager.
- Show willingness to broaden horizons through involvement with thirdâparty agreements, trademarks, domain names, trade secrets, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physics or relevant engineering (such as mechanical or electrical) or similar (at least 2:1).
- Completed foundation level patent qualification.
- Finalsâlevel UK and EQE, or recently qualified.
