- HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER - CONSTRUCTION
- WEMBLEY
- SALARY UP TO £70,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
Our client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team, with the successful candidate being available to start as soon as possible.
They are specifically seeking someone with a strong background in groundworks, reinforced concrete frames and civil engineering, who understands the pace and challenges of their industry and can quickly integrate into their business.
Following the company induction and familiarisation with the management systems, they would expect the successful candidate to be undertaking independent site safety inspections, engaging with site management teams and providing practical health and safety support within a very short period.
The ideal candidate will have
- Significant experience in a Health & Safety Manager or Senior Health & Safety Advisor role within the groundworks, RC frame, or civil engineering sector.
- A sound understanding of the hazards associated with excavation works, temporary works, lifting operations, buried services, plant operations, reinforced concrete frame construction, drainage, deep excavations, and demolition interfaces.
- Experience of carrying out detailed site safety inspections, audits, behavioural observations, and accident/incident investigations.
- The confidence to challenge poor standards whilst building positive relationships with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, Site Managers and Supervisors.
- A practical, solutions focused approach to improving standards rather than simply policing compliance.
- Excellent knowledge of CDM 2015, the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated construction legislation.
- Strong report writing, communication, and influencing skills.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel across our projects throughout London and the Home Counties.
- The following qualifications and professional memberships are preferred:
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum).
- NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Practice (or equivalent).
- IOSH membership at Cert IOSH or Chartered (CMIOSH) level is desirable; however, candidates with demonstrable groundworks and civil engineering experience will be considered regardless of membership grade.
- Temporary Works awareness or experience, including knowledge of BS 5975, would be advantageous.
- Experience working for a principal groundworks or civil engineering contractor is essential.
Looking for someone who is immediately available, or has a short notice period, and who can quickly become a valued member of our HSQE team.
