Our client is a well-established electronics business supplying franchised and third-party embedded and power products into a range of industrial and commercial markets. They are looking for a Technical Manager to take ownership of their Embedded and Power division, covering everything from pre and post-sales technical support through to in-house test, EMC and production oversight. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will be the go-to for design-in support, third-party product qualification, and resolving technical queries at every level, working closely with the sales team and directly with customers where needed. You will also manage a small team spanning field applications, test and production.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design in franchised and third-party products to meet customer and company requirements.
  • Resolve pre and post-sales technical enquiries, supporting the sales team on-site and remotely.
  • Source and qualify third-party products against company and customer needs.
  • Create and maintain build/test documentation, technical specifications and customer documentation (user manuals, FAT, FAI).
  • Oversee prototype manufacturing and integration of franchised, third-party and custom products.
  • Supervise EMC testing and manage the in-house test facility.
  • Generate wiring schedules, test specifications and reports.
  • Manage production workflow and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout.
  • Lead a small team covering field applications, test and production.

The person:

  • Degree in Science, Engineering or Electronics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Broad background in electronics design, manufacture and test, including high-level system design.
  • Working knowledge of CAD schematic capture, EMC/environmental testing and design for EMC.
  • Familiarity with civilian and military standards for safety, EMC and environmental compliance.
  • Comfortable with embedded boards, power supplies, fault-finding and repair.
  • Experience managing people, projects and workload under pressure.
  • Strong communicator, confident liaising with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

This is a genuine opportunity to take technical ownership of a division, with real scope to shape process, supplier relationships and team direction. If you are an experienced electronics engineer ready to step into a leadership role with autonomy, we would like to hear from you.
