Location: Gloucester
Salary: £40k-45k
Hours: 37 per week, Monday–Friday
Reports To: Senior Process Engineer
Purpose of Role:
- Optimize and improve manufacturing operations
- Establish effective process controls to maintain high quality
- Reduce waste and improve flow across manufacturing value streams
- Support introduction of new products and processes using standardized methodologies
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization & Control:
- Implement process engineering tools consistently (Yamazumi, Value Stream Mapping, Spaghetti diagrams, Time study (MOST))
- Conduct PFMEA and Control Plan activities with Quality Engineering
- Maintain up-to-date Standard Operating Instructions (SOPs)
- Develop and maintain production process maps
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements
Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to resolve process-related issues
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions
New Product & Process Introduction:
- Support all process engineering tasks for new products/processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally for smooth implementation
Lean & Continuous Improvement:
- Support Lean events and improvement initiatives
- Monitor, analyze, and report Process Engineering KPIs
- Develop and implement annual improvement plans
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Support internal and external audits
- Stay updated on process engineering advancements
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Significant experience in process engineering in a complex manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with process engineering tools: Yamazumi, Time-study (MOST), SOPs, Value Stream Mapping, SPC, Spaghetti diagrams
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (including GD&T)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience designing and implementing new processes
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies (Single Piece Flow, Jidoka, SMED, 5S)
- Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Project Gantt charts, Project Charters)
- Familiarity with APQP processes: PPAP, PSW, PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs
