The Launch Quality Centre Manufacturing Feasibility Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Manufacturing Feasibility is evaluated in line with business process. Manufacturing Feasibility issues are to be presented and agreed cross-functionally, and the product style and design influenced to support Manufacturing targets and functional deliverables.
Key Deliverables
- Analysis of final assembly feasibility on future programmes:
- Review style and design to identify and subsequently resolve manufacturing feasibility concerns and support Manufacturing Functional deliverables, i.e. Design For Manufacture best practice, assembly time targets, production quality targets.
- Conduct analysis of part design through virtual and physical studies to provide recommendations, identify issues and support problem resolution.
- Analyse dimensional management outputs and develop assembly strategies to ensure product quality targets are achieved (Delivery of Gap & Rad plan).
- Support Virtual Build reviews to validate process hard points and sequence.
- Support Design and Manufacturing Feasibility reviews.
- Support complex problem investigation and resolution.
- Manage KPIs to support status reporting at key project milestones.
- Support definition of key BIW measurements for collation into Function Mass Catalogue (FMK) including discussions with other Group suppliers, influencing and agreeing changes in FMK.
- Clearly define and document concerns/issues via business process.
- Validation of assembly feasibility using reference properties.
- Analysis on Controlled Build Vehicles.
- Act as knowledge holder for part design, manufacture and assembly within vehicle zone/module.
- Benchmarking of design, manufacturing and assembly methods.
- Development of knowledge through technical literature and industry-related research.
- Identify and contribute where appropriate with the introduction of new technology and techniques in the support of deliverables.
Skills/Experience of LTD Company staff
- Automotive industry experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment (similar experience within associated industries considered).
- Strong working knowledge of component design, manufacture and assembly processes/techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of design for assembly principles including lean manufacturing techniques.
- Logical and structured approach to problem identification and resolution.
- Appreciation of CATIA V5 and Virtual Build tools.
- Appreciation of measurement techniques.
- Appreciation of dimensional management analysis.
Qualifications of LTD Company staff
- HNC/Degree qualification or equivalent in a Manufacturing, Engineering or Science related subject.
- German speaking would be preferable but not essential.
- Member of related professional institute would be preferable but not essential.
