Our client is a well-established, privately owned engineering business and a key 1st and 2nd tier supplier to the automotive industry. With a strong heritage and multiple sites across the Midlands, they have built an enviable reputation for the batch manufacture of precision components, supplying several of the most recognisable OEMs across the automotive sector and beyond.
The business is currently enjoying a sustained period of both organic and acquisitive growth, underpinned by significant investment in new machinery, systems and site infrastructure. It is a genuinely exciting time to come on board.
As part of this expansion, they are now looking for a talented and motivated CNC Process Engineer to take ownership of efficiency and productivity within their CNC and traditional machine shop, which specialises in the machining of aluminium castings. This facility plays a central role in delivering components to demanding quality, cost and delivery standards, and the appointment of the right person will be pivotal to its continued success.
The Role
Working across the CNC machining facility, you will be genuinely hands-on with setting and programming, while also bringing a clear process engineering mindset to how the shop floor operates day to day. You will be expected to identify opportunities for improvement, refine methods, optimise cycle times, support the team, and ensure that the right component is produced right first time, every time. The work is varied and technically demanding. It will suit someone who enjoys getting the detail right, takes pride in their craft, and is always looking for ways to make things run a little better.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting and programming across a range of CNC equipment.
- Reviewing and improving existing processes, methods and cycle times.
- Introducing best practice in tooling, fixturing and work holding.
- Supporting the production team with technical problem-solving on the shop floor.
- Working closely with quality, production and engineering colleagues to ensure components meet specification.
- Contributing to continuous improvement projects across the facility.
Candidate Profile
- A solid CNC machining background, ideally as a setter-programmer.
- Proven programming experience on FANUC and Mazatrol controls.
- Strong setting knowledge across a range of CNC equipment.
- Ideally a background in industrial engineering, production engineering or work study.
- A methodical, improvement-minded approach with a genuine appetite for making things better.
