Main Goals and Objectives
Contribute to the Whole Vehicle Design and Functional Validation of new projects by managing the development, construction, delivery and update of Design Check and Static Validation (DCSV) properties, models and rigs to support Whole Vehicle Product and Manufacturing release. Manage internal and external suppliers for properties and parts and provide in-depth technical knowledge and guidance to support the DCSV objectives and technical development, delivering on time and within budget.
Responsibility/Tasks and Customers
- Responsible for deliverables to a specified timeframe, quality and cost.
- Manage the design, construction, delivery and update of properties and models, both internally and with external suppliers.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet all requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate deliverables status at any time with Key Performance Indicators.
- Manage workload on a daily basis and respond to both long term and short term task requests.
- Manage any outsourced work in the same technical area, including supplier management.
- Manage budgetary requirements to meet KPI objectives.
- Manage sourcing process, from engineering side, including RFQ and technical levelling.
- Manage property/model BOM and part sourcing in conjunction with Design Check engineers and part owners.
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Appropriate experience working in the Automotive Industry or related industries.
- Experience of design and construction of automotive (or similar industry) reference models and properties.
- Proficient with CATIA V5 and familiar with CAD PLM software (e.g. LCA or TeamCenter).
- Project management including: development timing plans/gantt charts, tasks prioritisation and critical path and risk identification.
- Strong influencing skills and communication, with a commitment to building positive relationships with other functions, and Group or external suppliers.
- Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
- Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.
- Understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with the company People Framework.
Practical & Technical Knowledge
- Has demonstrable knowledge of model and reference property construction methods including advantages and limitations.
- Knowledge of basic engineering design principles.
