Role overview

Our client, a specialist manufacturer supplying high-priority defence programmes, is expanding production and building a team of skilled Vehicle Technicians to support it. This is hands-on work on specialist military vehicles, where precision and quality genuinely matter, not just words on a job spec.

Immediate starts are available, and there’s strong potential for the role to extend as the programme scales.

What’s on offer

  • Discretionary performance bonus
  • Flexible start/finish times (subject to manager approval)
  • 25 days’ holiday + 8 bank holidays, with a Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Two weeks’ paid leave for Reservists and Cadets, plus paid leave for CFAVs
  • Pension scheme, 9% combined employer/employee contribution
  • Career development within a global business

Key responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit mechanical and electrical sub-systems to precise tolerances, working from technical drawings and work instructions
  • Use specialist tools, equipment and approved materials safely and correctly
  • Inspect components and completed assemblies against defined quality standards
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and R&D teams, and contribute to lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain consistent standards of safety and quality throughout

The person

  • City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Automotive, Mechanical or Vehicle Systems
  • Experience in mechanical fitting or low-volume vehicle assembly
  • Confident reading and working from engineering drawings and schematics
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, quality-focused manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach

Desirable: experience with military, specialist, HGV or off-highway vehicles; exposure to electrical integration or sub-system installation.

Candidates who don’t meet every point but have solid mechanical experience are still encouraged to apply.

Security requirement

Successful candidates will be required to sign the Official Secrets Act and pass the necessary vetting checks before starting.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business at the heart of UK defence manufacturing, doing work that genuinely protects lives. If you’re hands-on, take pride in precision work, and want to be part of a team delivering something that matters, we’d love to hear from you.

We champion diversity and innovation. Applications are encouraged regardless of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, background, age, or identity.
